Social Media & Social Networking Strategy

My interest about Social Media is getting higher and higher.
But, to be honest, I hardly realize how they can be profitable in return terms.
If anyone has case studies to share, please post a comment.

I want to call your attention on this white paper by Dennis McDonald: How to develop a Business-Aligned Social Media & Social Networking Strategy.
The framework is formed by three main steps:
1 -Setting Goals and Metrics
2 - Describing involved Organizational Functions
3 - Decribing Social Media Initiatives
Very worth reading.

Thank you for the comments!

Another post that might interest you is "The Justification of Enterprise Web 2.0 Project Expenditures" (http://www.ddmcd.com/justification.html).

You should also check out the "Social Media Today" web site (http://www.socialmediatoday.com/SMC/) which aggregates posts dealing with web 2.0 and social media. Many posts are PR related but you will also find frequent discussions about ROI.
