Queue and shopping experience

While in queue people was bored.

15 boring minutes can affect your shopping experience.
Changing 15 boring minutes in 15 amusing minutes can improve it.
People who buy in the same shop are “like-shop-minded”…
They probably have much to share (not only about shopping).

What about a screen on which people write anonymously via bluetooth?
Shoppers might use it to make questions to other shoppers… or just to have fun.

Primark low prices & cognitive coherence

Today it was my first time in Primark.

I was firmly convinced that I would have never bought anything: two weeks ago I saw a Tv program about Primark… low prices… working children*…

I got in the bus with two big bags containing:
2 Pillowcases (1.50£)
1 Throw (4£)
2 Pillows (4£)
1 Duvet (4£)

How did I justify it to myself?
1) I'm unemployed at present (It depend on the situation - I'm different, it's not my fault)
2) What about more expensive goods? Is the higher price a guarantee of fair working? (I, and everybody else, simply can't avoid it - I'm like all the other)
3) In many rice fields children work hard and in very unpleasant conditions... and what about diamonds? (Same as above)
4) If we don't buy, how would they survive? (I'm a philantropist!!)
and so on and so forth...

Summary:
- Low prices are hard to resist.
- Assassins would never think about themselves like assassins

*During the TV program Primark communicated that they were completely unaware of working children in their supply chain, and added that they would have not accepted to work with those suppliers any longer.

Soccer: the big hunt

Great footballers "are men good at estimating speed, distance, angles and directions" (here the book).

I like to think at these people like a sort of modern celebration of our ancient roots... At least, I have a reason more to accept their salaries...

The bigger picture

"The idea is that… people tend to make judgements about people when they don’t really know anything about them. So what I wanted to do was illustrate how when you see the bigger picture… when you have a bigger picture in your head your opinion of someone or something may change"
Jann Duna, Director

That made me think about this commercial for The Guardian.

But either in Gypo and in the ad we don't see lights or cameras, we don't see market shares and targets, prizes and broadcasters...
We accept the small picture till someone don't show us the bigger one. But even then... We look a the magician and we admire his performance. Shouldn't we ask for the biggest picture, instead? Or, simply, we prefer don't get there?

Double deck buses for green messages?

Great touchpoint, but isn't it a little bit incoherent with the message?
What about cycles and bicycle rickshaw? Or, better, GREEN BUSES?!

People are good: Flying home

Travelling alone is great, because you need meeting people.
Last time I went home I was sitting near two girls. They were studying art in Pisa.
I asked them about their preferred artists, here is what they teached me:

Jackson Pollock

from Wikipedia
"When I am in my painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It is only after a sort of 'get acquainted' period that I see what I have been about. I have no fear of making changes, destroying the image, etc., because the painting has a life of its own. I try to let it come through. It is only when I lose contact with the painting that the result is a mess. Otherwise there is pure harmony, an easy give and take, and the painting comes out well"

Bill Viola

Sweet Light

Ocean without a Shore

from his website:
"Bill Viola is considered a pioneer in the medium of video art... Viola uses video to explore the phenomena of sense perception as an avenue to self-knowledge... Using the inner language of subjective thoughts and collective memories, his videos communicate to a wide audience, allowing viewers to experience the work directly, and in their own personal way"

Cornelia Parker

from Wikipedia
"I resurrect things that have been killed off... My work is all about the potential of materials - even when it looks like they've lost all possibilities."
